After being raised and educated in Southland and the University of Otago, I began my working life in Wellington.

I entered the banking industry in 1987, initially working in strategic planning before moving into commercial and business banking. This developed my interest in business.

In 1990, I transferred to Palmerston North to establish a commercial banking office servicing the lower North Island.

The move to Palmerston North revealed to my wife Sheryll and I the lifestyle benefits that provincial New Zealand offers a young family. As a consequence, we decided to put our roots down in the Manawatu. Despite a short 3 year stint as a Regional Manager based in the Hawkes Bay, we have enjoyed remaining in the Manawatu ever since.

After 30 years in banking, I decided that it was time to explore fresh career challenges. This resulted in becoming a Registered Financial Advisor specialising in investments. Then in late 2018, I was approached to take on the new role as CEO at ICONA.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, tinkering in my workshop making furniture, gardening, politics, sport and NZ wines.
